Willow was awarded the honour of being the U15 Girls Player of the Month for September after impressive displays in both training and matches. She is pictured receiving a £10 Amazon voucher and certificate courtesy of the Buck and Berks FA.
The U15G manager Neil Yates was full of praise for Willow who he said "had shown excellent effort in training, listening to coaching points and had put them in to practice on the playing field." He added that "Willow had been asked to perform a different role than she was used to in our first couple of fixtures - playing a central defensive midfield role - and had delivered accomplished and energised performances."
Crendon Corinthians U15 Girls are part of a four month pilot scheme, run by the Bucks & Berks FA, to attract more girls in to football and reward players for making themselves available for, and trying hard during, matches. Three more £10 Amazon vouchers and certificates will be awarded in October, November and December.
Lisa Welling, organiser and sponsor of the pilot scheme, said that "Crendon Corinthians U15 girls have been chosen as we have been impressed with the support and attitude of the players, parents and coaches of this team and know that they could do with some additional players this season. We want to get more girls involved with football and stay with the game and we are hopeful that this pilot will encourage and help achieve this".
